When you purchase one of our rabbits from us, we will share with you what we like about the rabbit as well as its faults. All breeders are striving for that PERFECT rabbit! Remember, when choosing a rabbit for your rabbitry consider the what you are lacking. Pairing opposites can make some great rabbits. So what might not work in one rabbitry may work wonderfully in another rabbitry. The FUN part is discovering what works in your rabbitry. When you inquire about a rabbit we have for sale, please tell us your plan. For example if plan to show, breed or use it for 4H Showmanship/Fair. If you plan to use it for breeding we can share what it has thrown in the past if proven or what colors the rabbit has in the background. If you are planning on using a rabbit for showmanship, we can help you choose one with the best temperament. In general, Jersey Woolies have a very docile temperament but just like dog, cat, or any other animal; they all have different personalities. If your doe turns into a buck OR your buck turns into a doe, we correct its pedigree. We check the sex of our kits several times before they leave our barn and a final time again before they are sold. However, we have had does go to a show and come home as a buck and the same rabbit who turned into a buck come back as a doe from another show! Every breeder can share a similar story! If you purchase a show quality rabbit we cannot guarantee how it will show. Willis Plank said it perfectly at a National Show he judged at " In my opinion, on this day, and at this time I have selected the broken senior buck as the BOB Winner". Winning is about that moment. Judging is all a matter of that judge's opinion at that particular time. This is what makes rabbit shows so much FUN, each show's results are a mystery waiting to be revealed! Same must be said about if you purchase brood doe quality or herd buck quality. We can only honestly tell you what that particular rabbit has produced in our barn if it is proven. We cannot guarantee what it will produce. Each pairing is unique and it can only be assumed what the results could be when a new match is made.

When
we began our rabbitry one of our objectives was to be HONEST in what we
breed for and what we sell. Thistledown's Breeding Program's
objective is based on ARBA's Standard of Perfection for Jersey Woolies and
for Crème D'Argents. We also believe that temperament is an equally
important genetic trait. Which means even if a great rabbit has a
"bad attitude" it will NEVER be used in our breeding program.
